Talk: Sunday, June 2 at 4pm

Spend the evening at the Fred Schnider Gallery of Art to bask in the effervescence of Alice Whealin’s imaginative work coalesced with hearing how they came to be in an artist talk led by Alice Whealin and David Carlson.

About Ebullience:

“I create paintings embracing ‘joy, exuberance, and liveliness’. My daily practice includes observation and photography of the local sky. These images of natural illumination and landscape elements become a source for light, line and form in the work. I use color to evoke emotion. My latest compositions connect landscape and anatomy. Figurative, face and landscape references emerge over time in my abstract imagery.

I combine gestural drawing, saturated color, and organic forms. By applying ink and watercolor directly onto paper surfaces, I develop each painting individually over the course of weeks or months. Within the beautiful, sacred space of nature, one may find the strength of the human spirit renewed. Following these themes, I strive to exude an ebullience that offers comfort.” – Alice Whealin
