All crafters are invited to apply to participate in the 24th year of this holiday fair hosted by Joe’s.

Joe’s Movement Emporium takes over the organization and execution of a beloved Mount Rainier holiday tradition, the Annual Mount Rainier Craft Fair. The fair annually takes place the first Saturday of December, from 10 am – 5 pm, at Joe’s located at 3309 Bunker Hill Road, Mount Rainier. Each year the fair attracts hundreds of visitors ranging from long-time Gateway Arts District residents to holiday shoppers looking for a special, unique gift. Joe’s staff will turn the building into a winter wonderland with twinkle lights and holiday decorations. A local food vendor will be contracted to provide holiday eats and drinks for purchase. The application is live and open to all area crafters: http://bit.ly/CraftFairApp. Participating crafters are expected to pay a $70 participation fee and arrive early to drop-off and set-up their tables. A limited number of paper forms are available at Joe’s front desk. Applications must be turned in by September 7th with selected photos of work and set-up.

New this year, crafters will be determined by a jury of local artists, artisans and business owners including one of the craft fair founders and the owner of Nisey’s Boutique. Participation will be judged based on following criteria: quality & craftsmanship, originality & uniqueness, marketability & variety of items and presentation and photos. Crafters and artisans of all types are encouraged to apply including textile artists, beauty products, jewelry and book makers and other creative industries.

A popular annual event in Mount Rainier, the fair is more than a shopping experience as it provides a fun and festive gathering place for neighbors new and old. Drawing crowds from around the region, many folks kick-off their holiday shopping by staying local and buying handmade items for friends and family.

In addition, the fair will include a kid craft area by Club Joe’s staff where parents can drop their children while they shop, and kids can create a unique take-home item. Parents will be asked to make a $5 donation per child to cover cost of supplies. The craft will be designed and led by Joe’s visual arts education instructor and local artist, Clara Majors. Parents will be able to pick-up information about Club Joe’s and meet some of the staff.
