Deadlines: Washingtonia collection will close Friday, May 6, 2016.
The Art Bank collection will close Wednesday, May 25, 2016.

DCCAH is seeking to award grants for the purchase of original two and three-dimensional works of art – including but not limited to paintings, drawings, mixed media, prints, photographs, fabric art, ceramics, sculptures, installations and new media/video work for the Art Bank collection and the new Washingtonia collection.

Artwork in this collection is owned by DCCAH under the District’s Art in Public Places Program and loaned to District Government agencies for display in public areas and offices of government buildings. The Art Bank Collection which started in 1986 has over 2,700 artworks in the collection and on display in over 150 District government locations.

To celebrate the 225th anniversary of the District of Columbia, DCCAH seeks to establish The Washingtonia Collection with new acquisitions from artists living within all eight wards of the District. Works in this special collection will specifically reflect Washington, DC. From the iconic cityscape and historic landmarks, to the culturally charismatic neighborhoods and energetic diversity among residents, artists are invited to approach the visual representation of our city from the direction of their choosing. Both representational and abstract reflections on the District’s exceptional character will be equally considered. DCCAH seeks to achieve representation from each of the eight DC wards in this valued collection.
