Creative Placemaking Projects are intended to improve neighborhood quality of life; encourage creative activity; foster strong community identity and a sense of place; or contribute to a local economy. Projects may include arts engagement, performances, installations, pop-ups, exhibits, or other creative endeavors.

Community members, artists, and arts/design organizations, who are considering submitting a proposal for the Art Lives Here Creative Placemaking Project, are  invited to join Art Lives Here on Wednesday, December 18 at 7pm at Art Works Now in Mount Rainier at 3711 Rhode Island Ave, for a proposal workshop.

Workshop Facilitators Include:

  • Rhonda Dallas, Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council
  • Barbara Johnson, Art Works Now
  • Margaret Boozer, Red Dirt Studio
  • John Paradiso, Gateway Community Development Corporation
  • Anne L’Ecuyer, American University Arts Management Program

The facilitators will be available to answer questions and problem-solve application issues for those interested in submitting a Creative Placemaking proposal (application deadline January 6, 2014).

Art Lives Here will address a range of topics including developing concepts, addressing technical concerns, finding resources, planning for engagement, collaborating, and employing best practices for a competitive application.

The workshop will begin with a short presentation on previous successful projects and proposals, followed by breakout sessions for discussion of individual attendees’ ideas and proposals, culminating in a group wrap-up.

The members of Art Lives Here highly recommend that you attend this workshop if you are considering submitting an Art Lives Here Creative Placemaking Proposal. Workshop leaders have had experience in both submitting proposals and reviewing them. Bring your ideas.
