ARTSFAIRFAX is pleased to announce that it is accepting nominations for its eighth annual Arts Awards recognizing visionary contributions that the arts bring to Fairfax County and the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. This year’s awards categories include Emerging Arts, Arts Achievement and Arts Philanthropy. ARTSFAIRFAX invites the public to submit their nominations before Friday, February 14 at 5:00 p.m.
The ARTSFAIRFAX Arts Awards bring together the arts community, business community, civic and elected leaders to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of artists, arts organizations, and the private sector for their support of the arts in our community. Awardees must currently reside in Fairfax County and/or the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church and can be recognized in the following areas:
- Emerging Arts Awards recognizes a new or young arts organization (up to 6 years in operation) that has presented quality arts programming and engaged a broad or specific sector of the general community in the arts.
- Arts Achievement Award recognizes outstanding career achievements of an artist in any discipline, who has produced unique, creative, innovated concepts in their work, and has made a lasting contribution to their discipline.
- Arts Philanthropy Award acknowledges private sector support of the arts in Fairfax County and/or the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church, by honoring an individual, corporation or foundation that has provided leadership funding, long-term monetary support, or significant investment in the arts.
“The Arts Awards allow our community to celebrate arts organizations, artists and individuals who make amazing contributions to Fairfax County,” said Linda S. Sullivan, President & CEO of ARTSFAIRFAX. “The nomination period is an opportunity for Fairfax County citizens to have a voice in selecting those who they believe should be honored at the Arts Awards. We hope everyone takes the time to participate.”
Honorees will be announced during the summer and celebrated at the 2019 Annual Arts Awards luncheon on Friday, October 18. Visit ARTSFAIRFAX to submit a nomination or to learn more.
