Call for Artists: Falls Church Arts Gallery Exhibition Collab: Conversations in Art

“Collab” – all media – works created by two artists in collaboration  
As artists, we crave and thrive in community. This unique show invites you to collaborate with a fellow artist. How does this work? There are several ways, for example:

  • Choose an artist friend. Each of you starts one work, then switches halfway through and finishes the other’s piece.
  • Choose an artist friend. Each of you work together on one to two pieces at the same time.
  • Choose an artist friend. Each of you brings an unfinished piece that you’ve worked on before and finishes each other’s work.
  • If you don’t have an artist friend in mind, email and we will match you with someone.

A few notes: Both artists need to have actively worked on each piece; giving advice or guidance is not enough to qualify for this show. One of the two artists will be deemed the submitting artist and will be responsible for submitting work, conveying juror results to collaborator, drop-off and pick-up of accepted works, and equitable distribution of any sale proceeds to collaborator.

Exhibition Dates: Saturday, July 2 – Sunday, August 14, 2022

Exhibition Venues: Falls Church Gallery, 700-B West Broad St., Falls Church, VA, and online on the Falls Church Arts website.

Cash Awards: $100 Juror’s Choice and $50 People’s Choice prizes PRIZE INCREASE (4/28/22): $150 Juror’s Choice and $50 People’s Choice prizes

Entry Fee: $27.50 for Falls Church Arts members, $37.50 for nonmembers (Artists may submit up to 3 artworks, brief statement of concept or process required for each.)

Entries: Entries must be made through the online entry form.

Judging: This exhibition will be juried by Glen Kessler, an internationally collected and awarded artist, the founder of The Compass Atelier in Rockville, MD, and an experienced juror and curator. Artists will be notified of the juror’s decisions on/about June 13.

Drop-off/Pick-up: Artwork selected for the exhibition must be delivered to Falls Church Gallery on Monday, June 27, 10am-noon or 6-8pm. Unsold works must be picked up on Monday, August 15, 10am-noon or 6-8pm.

Sale of Work: All work must be for sale exclusively through Falls Church Arts for the duration of the show. All sales will be handled by Falls Church Arts, which shall be responsible for the collection of the retail sales price stipulated by the artist in the online entry form as well as the applicable sales tax. Falls Church Arts will remit to the artist the net sales amount (artist-stipulated retail price, less 20% donation to Falls Church Arts) within thirty days of the show closing. Falls Church arts will collect and remit all requisite sales tax to the proper taxing authority. No price changes will be allowed after the call deadline.
