Call for Muralists in the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District

The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District, in partnership with Montgomery County, Maryland, announces a new public art mural project at the Montgomery County’s Public Park Garage located at 8216 Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda, MD.

Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District is currently seeking proposals from artists who are 18 years of age or older and residents of Washington, D.C., Maryland or Virginia.

There are two sides of Woodmont Avenue Parking Garage to be used for the mural. Artists are invited to submit proposals that are transportation-theme including, but not limited to artwork depicting cars, bicycles, walking, public transportation and more. Only the areas in yellow are permitted to be painted. The total size of the mural is approximately 3,000 square feet. Please see the attached PDF for photos and exact dimensions of the mural.


  • Artist is required to use a paint specific to outdoor wall/concrete use such as Keim, SherKryl, NovaColor by Artex or Golden Artist Colors, etc. The artwork should be suitable for outside elements and change in temperature and as impervious to vandalism as possible, requiring little or no maintenance.
  • Artist(s) must be 18 years of age or older and resident(s) of Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia.
  • Artists are expected to carry their own general liability insurance.
