Catalyst Projects has come to the end of its six month gallery project at the Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market and are celebrating with music and fun.

Catalyst Project’s is pleased to announce the debut performance of These Quiet Colours. These Quiet Colours is a DC-based band that combines elements of the shoegaze, dream-pop, and post-rock musical styles, creating a sinuous moody sound.

The band started as a collaboration between guitarist Joe King and drummer Matthew Renaldi. With aspirations of expanding their blended sound of droning soundscapes and rhythm changing drumbeats, they added vocalist Kay Evelina Lewis-Jones, a former backing vocalist to Florence and the Machine, and bassist Charles Freeman.

Drawing inspiration from the style of early 4AD artists The Cocteau Twins and Red House Painters, and shoegaze titans Slowdive, the band is quietly developing a voice of its own.  Currently, These Quiet Colours are working diligently in their Arlington studio creating their first EP to be released in early summer 2014.

Gallery Hours:

  • Thursday through Saturday: noon to 7 pm
  • and by appointment

Catalyst Projects is located at the Brookland-CUA metro stop on the red line and on the 80 bus route. Street parking is available. For more information contact [email protected] or visit catalystartprojects.com.

Mission: Catalyst Project’s mission is to present the DC arts community to the world beyond the DMV. By presenting arts programming with a focus on exchange, we hope to cross-pollinate with arts communities outside of the DC metro area. It is our goal to make contemporary art accessible through educational programs such as panel discussions, artist workshops, and contemporary art exhibitions.
