Call for DMV Artists Small Works

Backend Studios is pleased to announce an open call for DMV artists living within a 50-mile radius of Washington, DC, for artists 18 years. Two dimensional work only and no larger that 24 x 26 inches framed will be considered. The deadline for applications is August 1.

The theme for the exhibition titled High Anxiety, explores states of mind as they relate to our collective political situations in this election year. Works may include the serious, humorous, satirical, surreal, emotive, and more.

Backend Studios is an artist-run, home-based space located in Tenleytown. Organizers and curators: Michèle Colburn and Warren Williams.

ELIGIBILITY Open to DMV artists 18 years of age living within a 50-mile radius of Washington, DC. Two dimensional work only. Media: oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, prints, drawings, and mixed media. No sculpture, photography, video, installation, giclees, or similar reproductions. Work must not exceed 24” x 26” including frame. Weight cannot exceed 20 pounds, nor can the piece project more than 6 inches from the wall. No multipart works. Please bear in mind the above size restrictions. The decision of the organizers are final. By submitting work, you confirm that the artwork entered is completely your own original design and artwork.

EXHIBITION DATES: Saturday, September 28 – Sunday, October 20, 2024.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 1, 11:59 pm. All applications must be submitted before midnight. Back End Studios will notify artists by September 1.
NO SALES: Backend Studios is an artist-run endeavor and does not take a commission. Every opportunity to inform the artist of an interested collector will be made.
