Deadline: April 4, 2019
Halcyon has partnered with Monochrome Collective for an art fair exhibition featuring some of the DMV’s most talented and exciting emerging artists. The exhibition aims to highlight the artistic richness and diversity of our community of working artists, and to cultivate a culture of support for practicing artists and locally-focused art collecting among residents and visitors alike.
The fair will take place from June 8-23 (beginning one week before the rest of the festival kicks off on June 15), at a location that complements By The People’s festival hubs and satellite locations. It will be open to the public, acting as an additional site where festival attendees can see a curated selection of work by local artists – work collectors can invest in if they want to own a piece of Halcyon’s By The People festival.
Curator Nina O’Neil is founder of Monochrome Collective, a DC-based art consultancy supporting artists and empowering the next generation of art collectors. O’Neil will convene a jury panel of local artists, curators, collectors, and arts practitioners to review submissions. An open call for artists is now underway, with applications due April 4, 2019.
