Calling All DC-Area Artists!

The Friends of Peirce Mill are looking for established artists and experienced teachers to lead free, public workshops at Peirce Mill in Rock Creek Park on Saturday, June 10 (rain date: Sunday, June 11).

These hands-on workshops will be part of Create by the Creek, a day-long celebration of art and community in Rock Creek Park that continues a long tradition of artists working at Peirce Mill.

Proposed workshops should be about 90 minutes long, intended for a general audience, and inspired by nature and/or Rock Creek Park. Subjects could include plein air watercolor painting, botanical drawing, nature photography, etc. Artwork does not need to be representational, but please note that we are unable to remove natural materials (leaves, acorns, etc.) from the park.

Four teaching artists will be chosen to participate, and will be notified by Friday, May 18 if their submission has been selected.

Selected teaching artists will each be awarded a stipend of $800 for teaching the same workshop twice on Saturday, June 10 OR Sunday, June 11. Each artist will also have a separate budget of $200 for art supplies, and will be reimbursed for materials purchased for the workshops.
