ARCH Summer 2011 Artist in Residency Program

EDITOR’S NOTE: Summer 2011 Artist Residency deadline extended to March 15.

The ARCH Development Corporation (ADC) Summer 2011 Artist in Residency Program Deadline is March 15. The program will run from May 30th-July 22nd 2011.

The program offers FREE housing and FREE workspace to participating artists. Two residencies will be offered for 8-week sessions in which artists will work closely with the Honfleur Gallery and The Gallery at Vivid Solutions staff to determine the parameters of the residency, needs of the artist, and how to best connect to the local community. These parameters will focus primarily on the details of the artists’ project, but are also about, fostering dynamic interactions and exposing the resources of the greater DC cultural community.

The residencies are open to visual artists including, but not limited to; photographers, painters, installation based artists, & writers of all kinds and accepts emerging and established artists. The selection criteria will focus on the excellence of work samples from the artist and the priority on community involvement.

Fifth Annual East of the River Exhibition

Honfleur Gallery and The Gallery at Vivid Solutions are pleased to announce the call for submissions for the 5th Annual East of the River Exhibition, highlighting the creative minds of Washington DC’s Wards 7 and 8.  Artists living, working or with roots in the communities east of the Anacostia River may submit up to 20 images for review by the panel of esteemed judges:

Stephen Bennett Phillips
Director of the Fine Arts Program at the Federal Reserve Board

Renee Stout
acclaimed Washington, DC based artist

Susana Raab
Photographer, The Smithsonian Anacostia Museum

This year’s exhibition will focus on the presentation of bodies of work from up to six selected artists, to be exhibited at the Honfleur Gallery and The Gallery at Vivid Solutions. Proposals for works in progress will be accepted.  A $300 award per artist will be presented to each artist selected for exhibition, and in addition, an individual work selected as Best in Show will be announced during opening night reception.   The galleries are offering an optional Portfolio Workshop for interested parties, see the application for details.
