Washington Studio School Seeks Admin/Registrar

Washington Studio School is a non-profit organization whose mission is to teach how to see and create through drawing, painting and sculpture. We offer classes, workshops, exhibitions and programs to engage, connect and bring people together with a fresh approach to traditional studio art. We encourage artists to grow, explore, learn together and create art that is personal and relevant.

This is a part-time position that is shared between two individuals. The position reports directly to the Managing Director, works closely with the Artistic Director and other staff, and provides a wide range of administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the organization.

The Admin/Registrar will:

  • Provide daily operations, communications, and program support
  • Handle class and workshop registration
  • Manage data and perform data entry
  • Act as receptionist, answer phone calls and respond to emails
  • Facilitate building maintenance and the ordering of supplies


  • Receive and welcome all students, visitors, donors, vendors and other stakeholders; ensure that WSS is a welcoming environment for all.
  • Process all registrations and refunds for classes, workshops, open sessions, and programs.
  • Enter, organize and maintain a wide range of data in QuickBooks, MailChimp, Google Spreadsheets and other relevant software, including student, faculty, visitor, donor and atelier contact information and their related payment and credit information; manage and maintain class rosters, interest and contact lists
  • Handle all incoming phone calls, emails, inquiries and/or questions from students, visitors, faculty, and other public and WSS stakeholders; direct them as appropriate and ensure timely response unless referred to another person for handling.
  • Assist in management and maintenance of organization’s facilities; order supplies.
  • Provide program support for numerous programs throughout the year, including open houses, receptions, artist talks, open sessions, and exhibitions.
  • Manage model interviews and schedules for WSS classes, workshops and open sessions.
  • Design, manage and maintain directional and informational signage around the organization’s facilities.
  • Provide additional support to Managing and Artistic Directors as requested.


  • Training, experience, or coursework in administrative work desired;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Exceptional people and communication skills;
  • Familiarity and/or working knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace;
  • Reliable, flexible, dedicated and proactive problem solver.

  • 2 days per week, Thursdays and Fridays (16 hours)
  • Expected working hours are 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

Salary: $21/hour
