2022—THE YEAR IN REVIEW
Look at what we accomplished

01 Critical Writing
>> Regularly published reviews and features
>> Published several independent scholars
>> Partnered with Hamiltonian Artists to publish “Essays on Art”

02 East City Art Weekly Events List
>> Maintained the only complete list of art events in the DC region
>> Updated and published weekly (except for holiday weeks)

03 Artist Directory
>> Expanded the directory and increased its features

04 Search Engine Optimization
>> Began an SEO campaign to make our art spaces and artists visible regionally

05 Veterans Art Partnership
>> Worked with nonprofits Uniting US and ARCH to produce a veterans’ art exhibition Nov. 2021-Jan. 2022 at Honfleur Gallery

06 RISO Press
>> Purchased and learned how to operate a RISO digital duplicator
>> We now own the means of print production

07 THANK YOU!!
>> Thank you for your support over the year! We could not have done it without you.

Examples of single color prints using fluorescent pink, violet, black and Kelly green. (The print of the chair on the right is work by DC-based artist Carolina Mayorga).

2023—A BIG YEAR IS COMING!
Here is what we have planned

01 Return of Print Publications
>> Including a free circulated blotter, fine art prints and small run booklets

02 Critical Writing Expansion
>> Increasing the number of reviews written monthly

03 East of the River Artist Directory
>> In partnership with ARCH—incorporate existing artists from DC Artists East website into ECA Artist Directory

04 Weekly Events List Expansion
>> Continue publishing the Weekly Events List and disseminating it via various print and digital media

05 Artist Directory Expansion
>> Increase capacity, functionality and visibility

06 Search Engine Optimization
>> Finalize SEO to make ECA Weekly List a top search

07 Capital Art Book Fair at Eastern Market’s North Hall
>> Takes place Saturday & Sunday, April 1-2, 2023 with over 50 vendors

Will you help us fund our plans?

Print cylinders need to be changed with every new color run. The RISO digital duplicator is in the foreground, cylinder in the back and a “cassette” which holds a single color drum is in the bottom right corner.

HOW YOUR DONATIONS WILL BE SPENT
Here are three critical funding areas

01 Additional Printing Equipment (one time capital investment)
>> We’re looking to purchase five more printing cylinders (like the one you see above). Each costs $800
>> RISO duplicators use a single color process each requiring an independent cylinder; we are seeking to expand our color range

02 Critical Writing (ongoing)
>> Each essay costs us $600 to produce and publish

03 Monthly Operations (ongoing)
Our monthly operation cost are $1,700 just to keep ECA going and includes the following charges:
>> Mailing list $225
>> Webhosting $100
>> Physical storage $125
>> Various Software $ 75
>> Events Editor $250
>> Office Space $825
>> Internet/phone $100
