The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities has announced its grantees for the 2011 calendar year which includes a number of East City organizations including the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, ARCH Development Corporation (which runs Honfleur, Blank Space SE and the Gallery at Vivid Solutions) and Art Enables. The Capitol Hill Art League recently invited Gene Weingarten to Jury one of their shows. Weingarten speaks about his experiences in his December 19, 2010 column. He might be more cut out to be a juror than he gives himself credit for!

The Hill is Home has published a piece about CITY Gallery’s current show by Ronnie Spiewak “Leaves, Words and Screens”.

Finally, CITY Gallery reports that it has raised over $2,000 for Art Enables at Wally Szyndler’s show in December. All but two of Szyndler’s masks sold and dozens of gourd containers made their way to happy homes in time for the holiday season.
