Opening: Sunday, January 20 from 12pm to 3pm

The complexity, grandeur and interconnectedness of nature are all inspirations for artist Sheila Giolitti. Her work is both fluid and strict, with washes of color contrasting with precise lines and patterns. The tensions and intricacies of her work speak to the complexity of the evolutionary process. Layers of color, line, texture and pattern interact with one another: they loop, sprout, shadow and blend their forms with lively movement. Sheila uses a range of media to create alluring landscapes with a sense of harmony and the ebb and flow of life.

Sheila was born in Jacksonville Florida. At the age of three, her father, the Italian illustrator Alberto Giolitti moved the family back to Italy where she was raised. She attended foundation art school at Mander College and later Fine Art at Coventry University and Ceramics at Middlesex University in England. Sheila returned to the United States and currently lives and works in Norfolk Virginia. She has exhibited widely including Jankossen Contemporary, Mayer Fine Art, Alida Anderson Art Projects, London Square Gallery, the Rawls Museum of Art, and the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia. Sheila has exhibited in our  summer Carte Blanche shows. This is her first solo show with Adah Rose Gallery.
