November 19 – Mid January

Barry Farms. Stronghold. Anacostia. Wards 7 and 8 are home to some of the most prolific communities in Washington, DC. The DAP Project, the award-winning podcast from Rhonda Henderson and Aaron Stallworth, is dedicated to preserving the stories, voices, and experiences of Wards 7 and 8-based Washingtonians as citywide development lands east of the river.

The Dap Project brings curiosity about the Black man’s nuanced gesture to the Anacostia Arts Center in a multi-media exhibit. The exhibit highlights the literal coming together of hands and the metaphorical extension of love for the community through photos and interviews.

“Dap is a Love Language” invites viewers to appreciate the familiar greeting and consider how, just like we do, dap exists in multitudes.

On November 19—The Dap Project will celebrate the opening of its new photography exhibit, “DAP is a Love Language,” at the Anacostia Arts Center. The opening ceremony will feature remarks from photographers Joseph Edwards and Edward Underwood, custom bites from Bite Club, and music from DJ Kavon.

Anacostia Arts Center is located at 1231 Good Hope Road SE.
