Judith Pratt & Fabiola Alvarez Yurcisin
The Glen Echo Park Partnership presents the exhibition CONTAINMENT/RELEASE. Fabiola Yurcisin and Judith Pratt bring two strong and complementary visions to Glen Echo’s Popcorn Gallery. Yurcisin’s woven structures, cages, and installations present objects that question our concept of beauty and waste, as well as challenge our view of cultural norms. Pratt’s wall installations, fragments, and totems combine utilitarian materials that produce an unconventional sense of gesture and movement. Together, the two artists offer the viewer a vibrant visual experience. For more information, click here.

The Glen Echo Park Partnership presents Subtle Structure featuring the work of Monica Stroik. In this series of works, Monica Stroik creates an environment or atmosphere that conceptually becomes two-fold. Stroik goes off of the idea of space versus place. The paintings may depict the natural organic world in relationship with the human architectonic influence. Her paintings can also depict the psychological space of where the viewer is standing and visually where these groups of paintings take them. By breaking through those expected barriers of walls to change the viewer’s perspective, both literally and figuratively, Stroik guides the eye through and beyond the gallery walls. With each painting she creates an individual experience along with a collective spatial experience within an entire group of paintings, creating an illusion of space and a feeling of infinity.
