Starting in July 2016, ARCH Development Corporation launched an interactive, multimedia installation series called IMMERSION, a project supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. These four installations will be held in 3 locations around Historic Anacostia and offer visitors the chance to touch, create, contribute, and share. The four artists selected from the 66 applications are Olivia Morrow, Phillip McGaughy, Becky Borlan, and Susana Raab.

The Love and Fears Project | Susana Raab
2208 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave SE | September 1 – 30, 2016

Raab, who has worked in Ward 8 for almost a decade, will set up a photo booth to make portraits of volunteer subjects, who then write down their loves and fears on notepaper. The work is then wheatpasted on posters around town. The gallery space will be both a studio and site-specific dynamic exhibition space where the walls will be papered with proofs of the portraits and entries and show the evolution of the work and volume of participation in the project.
