Opening Reception: Saturday, May 7 from 11am to 3pm
Artists & Makers Studios on Parklawn Drive in Rockville will host the recent work of J. Jordan Bruns, as well as a Tribute Exhibit for Artist Kris Loya with her husband, Steve Loya – along with new work in Gallery 209 and Artists’ Open Studios. The May 7th opening will run from 11am – 3pm. Tadaima is a phrase that means “I’ve just come home now” in Japanese. J. Jordan Bruns, a long time Glen Echo Park resident artist and instructor has returned from a three-year sabbatical in Tokyo, Japan. “Tadaima” will highlight some of the work created during his sabbatical as well as work created since his return. In the Tribute Exhibit, “May Flowers” the exceptional life of Kris Loya will be celebrated with collaborative work that she and her husband Steve created before her diagnosis in October of 2021 with metastatic breast cancer, which would claim her life in December, just two days before her 41st birthday. Since then, Steve has been working hard to honor his beloved wife by celebrating her life and her work, and will continue to let the world know about Kris’ art – which remains a reflection of her kind, loving, and vibrant spirit.
