Opening Reception: Friday, March 13 from 6pm to 8pm
ArtReach GW Community Gallery presents solo exhibition, Broken Beauty, by DMV-based artist, Simone Agoussoye. This visual art exhibit will be held at the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) in Washington DC.
Agoussoye’s first exhibit of the year, the event is themed Broken Beauty: The Crushed Glass Collection as a tribute and showcase of her extreme admiration and enjoyment of creating broken glass art. Art lovers can come see her stunningly beautiful collection during the dates of March 1, 2020 – March 27, 2020. All are invited to come meet the artist during an opening reception being held at the gallery on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 6pm – 8pm. Entry is free.
This collection serves to celebrate experimenting and stepping out of one’s comfort zone in life and in art. Agoussoye got her start working in sketching and later in painting, which she has now elevated by the use of crushed glass. “Beauty can be found even in the broken things,” the artist explains. “My goal with this collection is to inspire others to not only be artistically bold and challenge themselves to use non-traditional materials and techniques in their work, but also on an emotional, internal level, to never completely throw away the parts of ourselves that are broken. Instead, we can shine them up and combine them with something good to make them something that can benefit the world – just like this glass.”
