In The Garden (detail), by Bobbie Pratte, acrylic paint on canvas, 41” x 26”.

Three artists explore the theme of gardens, both real and imagined. Mike Francis’s paintings explore the relationship between prismatic color and artists’ pigment, methods and materials, and avoiding artifice. Pattee Hipschen’s oil paintings are delivered with a distinctive style of bright and intense color and can be found internationally in both private and corporate collections. She teaches painting and printmaking at the Art League School and the Arts Club of Washington and is represented by several galleries in the DC area and the Eastern Shore. Bobbi Pratte uses nature as a jumping off point for her evocative and personal way of seeing the landscape. Color is a driving force in that look, but she believes that it’s composition that sets the stage. She is a popular and widely collected artist who has over 40 years as an educator in the Washington metro area.
