The Brentwood Arts Exchange is pleased to announce Here Not Here, a group exhibition showcasing the work of seven artists and featuring a variety of mediums including sculptures, paintings, and videos by Pixie Alexander, Kanchan Balse’, Maggie Gourlay, Caroline MacKinnon, Louisa Niell, Rebecca Perez, Shelley Picot.

Here Not Here runs from December 5, 2022 through January 21, 2023 with an opening reception on Saturday, December 17, from 5 – 8 pm and an Artist and Curator Talk on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 2-4 pm.

Gun violence has claimed the lives of people doing these ordinary, everyday activities. Nearly 40,000 Americans are killed by gun violence each year. These are people who wanted to live their lives alive – but instead, found their lives cut short because of gun violence.

With Live.Life.Alive., an exhibition curated by Sarah Matthews and featuring the moving work of nine artists from the D.C. metro area, viewers are invited to examine the historical impact of gun violence in the United States, to reflect on the present moment in history and implores all to act on ending gun violence, today.

Exhibiting Artists: Nikki Brooks, Momma Rain – Maria Buszinski, Gerardo Camargo, Andrea Limauro, Imar Hutchins, Carol-Anne McFarlane, Zsudayka Nzinga, Sharon Robinson, Némesis Zambrano.

Live.Life.Alive. Curatorial Development Program Exhibition Volume 3 runs from December 5 – January 21, 2023, with an opening reception on Saturday, December 17 from 5 – 8 pm and an Artist and Curator Talk on Saturday, January 7 from 2 – 4 pm.
