The work in this show will reflect the massive displacement of people from the war in Syria, the humanitarian crisis that has resulted from 13 million people displaced and talk about the immigration issues occurring on our own Southern border. I speak about the general plight of people and families seeking a safe harbor, giving voice to the voiceless, especially in this climate of anti-other, anti-immigrant sentiment, hoping to preserve both the dignity and humanity of these people.

The use of layers in images threads a connection between many traditions, from painting, to map-making, to infographic timelines. Overlapping shapes and lines can also communicate different levels of data, contributing to a whole while maintaining individual identity. This group exhibit features artists who employ various forms of layering in their work, developing unique and distinctive outcomes and influencing a myriad of visual, emotional, and aesthetic responses.
