Capitol Hill Art League Hosts “Art That Moves,” an All-Media April Exhibit in Conjunction with the Region-Wide Dance Is The Answer Festival

Opening Reception: Saturday April 9 from 5pm to 7pm

The Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) presents an all-media juried exhibit entitled Art That Moves in conjunction with the region-wide Dance Is The Answer festival.  The juror for the exhibit is Peter DiMuro, Director of Dance/MetroDC and teacher, facilitator, and arts practitioner.  Opening reception is Saturday April 9, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 PM at CHAW, 545 7th St, SE.  Peter DiMuro will present his remarks at 5:30 pm at the reception. Admission is free.  This exhibition runs until May 6, 2011. Gallery hours are: 9:30 am-9:00 pm (M-Th), 9:30 am-6:00 pm (F), and 9:00 am-2:00 pm (Sat). Peter DiMuro has woven a career over a thirty-year span as a director, teacher, facilitator and arts practitioner. His works for stage are known for bridging classical, post modern, social forms and jazz styles, splicing text and movement into works that reveal extraordinary and humane aspects those people who inhabit his works. He is known for developing effective and creative unions of seemingly disparate groups and mixes of artists, non-artists, the community-at-large, involving subject matter of wide ranging social concern and their evolutions over time.

The Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) is a visual arts program of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW), which presents six juried shows of members’ work annually in all media as well as a special sale of smaller works in December.  CHAL provides artists with opportunities to exhibit and sell their work; supports artists’ growth; provides opportunities for artists to meet other artists and arts professionals, offers venues for artists to interact with the community at-large, showcases and promotes the work of area artists; educates the public about the value of the arts and artists to the Capitol Hill community and beyond.
