Opening Reception: Saturday, July 2, 2011 from 5 – 7pm

The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) presents the exhibit Urban Nature by oil painting artist John Morrell Saturday, July 2, 2011 from 5 – 7pm.  Urban Nature is a series of paintings that explores the psychological and sublime effects of nature.    Admission is free for the opening reception and the exhibit, which closes on August 3, 2011.

John Morrell is a native of Albany, NY and has painted and taught in the Washington, DC area for over 30 years. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and a Masters of Fine Arts from George Washington University, and subsequently taught in the Art Departments at both universities. From 1984 to 2002 he was the Gallery Director and Visiting Professor at Georgetown University. He is now Associate Professor of Painting and Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at Georgetown University.

Gallery hours are as follows:

  • Monday through Thursday: 9:30 am to 9:00 pm
  • Friday 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9am to 2:00 pm
  • Sunday: CLOSED

CHAW is located at 545 7th Street SE, one block from Eastern Market metro.
