Cristina Montero graduated from the School of Art and Design at the Catholic University of Chile in 1969. Her recent works are made on free canvas with mixed media based on metallic tempera, executed with freedom and with strong emphasis on color and design.
She has had individual and group exhibitions in Chile, Spain, UK, and USA and executed commissions for private collectors, corporations and the Department of State for the US Embassy in Chile and the offices in Havana, Cuba. Collaborated with furniture maker Kevin Kopel in joint projects including wood and canvas screens presented at the International Furniture Fair, New York, 2000.
She lives in Washington DC since 1984 and is a docent at the Smithsonian American Art Museum at the Renwick Gallery of Washington, DC.
