If you’ve been with us from the beginning, you’re familiar with Shawn “Painta” Lindsay. Painta was our first artist to exhibit when CHACC officially opened its doors back in August. His “Grayscale” exhibit challenged the way society views women and now he’s back to completely challenge our minds and eyes.
A Statement from Painta:
Do you ever think about space? Not outer space, but the space around you. I do.
I daydream about the space around me… changing colors, forms, imagining a completely new surface area. I attempt to make sense of what I am visualizing. This series of paintings depicts my exploration of space.
Whether you’ve seen Painta’s work before or not, this is an exhibit you won’t want to miss. Join them for the opening reception of “Vibrating Spaces,” December 11th from 6pm to 9pm. The exhibit will be up for the entire month of December.

Artist Bio:
Shawn Lindsay, also known as Painta, hails from Forestville, Maryland. An energetic and enigmatic spirit, Shawn had been interested in art and drawing since he was a child and draws inspiration from portrait painters such as John Singer Sargent, Henri Matisse, Edgar Degas, Alice Neil, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Shawn attended the Visual & Performing Arts program at Suitland High School as a young prospect and went on to study fine arts at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Along with oil and acrylic painting, he is also well-versed in digital art and illustration. Today, when he is not creatively enabling fellow art prospects at Dupont Circle’s ArtJamz, he paints away at his home studio and seeks new opportunities to share his work with the world.
CHACC is located at 3200 MLK Jr. Ave. SE.
