Opening: Friday, April 14 from 7pm to 9pm
Kim Cooper is a pop artist whose talent is rooted in classical training as textile designer and colorist. She currently creates mixed media works integrating her design and color techniques into layers of pattern and brilliance that describe a unique story in every work. Her inspiration comes from sources she sees in everyday life where she strives to combine pattern, texture, form and color into works that almost compel the viewer to reach out and touch.
For her exhibit “Life on Mars”, Kim was inspired by the brilliance and flamboyance of 70’s Glam Rock and strived to create original 3D art nearly mimicking sculpture.
She holds a degree in design from Syracuse University and spent 20 years creating hand painted textiles for several professional firms. Her work on rugs, draperies and bedding is still on display in several luxury hotels around the world.
Kim is a DC resident and a member of 52 O Street Studios in Northwest DC.
The exhibition is located at Homme Gallery’s 2000 L St. NW DC.
