Soft Sinew presents a small body of thread works, painterly and icon-like, by Pennsylvania-based artist Ariel Posh. These artworks balance playfulness and horror, tradition and innovation. Forms and figures rendered in fiber evoke the body as a tenuous assemblage of flesh, liable to unravel, yet brilliantly resilient.
Ariel Posh was born in Bethlehem, PA in 1995. She earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD in the spring of 2018. Ariel additionally studied at Studio Art College International (SACI) in Florence, Italy, where she focused on art history and art conservation, two interests that overlap with her art practice. Ariel has participated in exhibitions in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado, D.C., Japan, and Italy. She currently lives and works in Philadelphia, PA.
