Washington artists explain the process and meaning behind public murals in northwest and southeast DC. Byron Peck’s Diamond Teague Memorial (2011) pays homage to a Youth Conservation Corps member who was murdered near the site; vibrant street art celebrates education (Explore and Learn, Albus Cavus Mural Collective, 2010), and graffiti plays to a green theme in Fuel for the Fire (Words Beats & Life, Inc., 2011). Caitlin Carroll previews her documentary film on the murals of DC.
This event will be held at the Anacostia Library, which is located at 1800 Good Hope Road, SE. For more information visit dcmurals.info.
