Reception: Thursday, February 6 from 6pm to 8pm
.
A local urban exploration group invites the public to celebrate their latest discoveries via a photography exhibition. The DC Urban Explorers will host a reception on Thursday, February 6th from 6-8:00 p.m. in the Marlboro Gallery, located on the Largo Campus of Prince George’s Community College. The group explores urban decay and abandoned buildings, and is opening up a whole new world to individuals who have an interest in the fascinating stories and aesthetic behind older structures. The DC-area Urban Explorers travel all over the region—DC, MD, VA and PA—to uncover the art these places are harboring.
“If you love decay and abandoned building, then this group is for you,” says Tom Berault, Professor of Art, Music, and Philosophy at Prince George’s Community College. “We are an active group that travels near and far to find hidden treasures left behind…and we encourage the sharing of photos, sites, stories and seeking out new locations with scouting events.”
The reception will allow art and culture enthusiasts to meet and greet each other, and discuss the exciting discoveries found—as well as the untapped—around the region. The latest display will be available for viewing throughout the reception and will continue through the month of February.
To RSVP or inquire about the reception, please call Tom Berault at (240) 350-6552.
