Dupont Underground and Embassy of Sweden proudly present the video art exhibition You Don’t Love Me, Yet, featuring eight renowned Swedish artists: Annika Eriksson, Bigert & Bergström, Catti Brandelius, Hanna Ljungh, Johanna Billing, Petronella Petander, Salad Hilowle, and Santiago Mostyn. The exhibition is on display at Dupont Underground through April 30, 2023.
The participating artists come from different backgrounds and generations, but are united in their interest for current social issues, interpersonal relationships, and the interaction between humans and nature, which they depict through their art.
The video works are displayed in “living rooms,” all designed by Washington-based architecture firms, which create a sharp contrast to the unique and rough character of the abandoned streetcar station under Dupont Circle.
“The artists in this exhibition have a strong interest in society and politics, and the relationship between humans and nature,” says Johan Pousette, Curator. “The meeting between art and audience is a mutual two-sided communication. When spectators are committed to the artistic process, art can enable us to think in new ways and from new perspectives.”
The exhibition at Dupont Underground is a selection of films from the video box “Art on Screen,” produced by the Swedish Institute in collaboration with Kalmar Art Museum in Sweden.
“The Embassy of Sweden and Dupont Underground share the ambition to enable inspiring meetings between the local community and international contemporary art and culture,” says Karin Olofsdotter, Ambassador of Sweden to the United States. “We are very happy about the collaboration with Dupont Underground, which, with its unique premises and programs, also opens up opportunities for the Embassy to meet new audiences.”
Dupont Underground is open to the public from 11am-5pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. For more information, visit Dupont Underground.
