Fall Salon in Target Gallery: November 12 – December 11
Art Fest: Saturday, November 12 – Sunday, November 13, 12 p.m. – 4p.m.
Bring home original art from regional artists this fall from Torpedo Factory Art Center with two major offerings dedicated to making art buying simple and affordable. Torpedo Factory Art Center is located at 105 N. Union Street in Old Town Alexandria.
Explore, Fall Salon, an exhibition on view November 12 – December 11 in the Art Center’s Target Gallery, features 80 works by artists from the greater metropolitan region, all priced at or below $500. A reception will take place during Art Fest on Sunday November 13 from 2-4 p.m.
Experience Art Fest, an event on Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, features special in-studio offers throughout the building, exclusive to participants, from the Art Center’s renowned artists.
As the name implies, the Fall Salon in Target Gallery will be hung salon-style, which allows frames to be stacked and grouped in such a way that more art will fit on the walls in the spirit of an art fair. The all-media exhibit features a diverse range of aesthetic styles and price points to appeal to a wide audience. The jury panel for this exhibition was Hannah Barco, Associate Curator and Festival Director at Tephra ICA; Helen Criales, DC-based artist and curator; and Twig Murray, Gallery Director of Athenaeum Gallery. The three will participate in a roundtable discussion about art collecting and sustaining the local arts economy on Sunday, November 13 at 2 p.m.
An online catalog will be available on November 12 via torpedofactory.org/target. Purchases may be made online.
Art Fest opens all three floors of the Art Center to new and experienced collectors. Dozens of galleries and studios are extending Art Fest buyers exclusive discounts and offers not available at any other time of the year. Tickets provide visitors with select studio artwork discounts and drinks at the bar. Plus: attendees can enjoy a variety of art demos from participating artist studios all afternoon on both days, from both newly juried artists and familiar favorites.
