Opening Reception: Saturday, April 2 from 5pm to 8pm

This guest show marks English painter Lindsay Mullen’s debut solo in the United States. Her paintings are a response to the atmosphere of the places she has lived, drawing the viewer into a meditative space shot through with diffused light. They aim to capture the fleeting moment that causes one to stop and contemplate; a pause from the chaotic world. “Through her eyes,” said one British reviewer, “muted green, blues and ochres give us an almost spiritual insight into light and shade.”

Mullen recently moved to Washington, D.C. from Spain, where she lived and worked for thirty years. She has had some 50 solo exhibits in that country, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Switzerland.
