Compton expresses Black Diasporic experiences, history, and identity through a series of portraits and abstract paintings. She creates these works in an emotional and poetic manner that explores the physical and spiritual conflicts of external and internal liberation. A Holy War references the ongoing fight for cultural and personal preservation for people of African descent throughout the Americas.
