Opening Reception: Wednesday, December 4 from 6pm to 8pm

Gallery 102 is proud to present Enter: Future. The exhibition displays an array of visions of the future, both dystopian and utopian, and makes an effort to convey these visions of the future from the perspectives of the eleven artists included. The works on display present a range of artwork relating to the future, with themes such as nationality, fashion, technology, social media, surveillance, political depictions, and government oversight. Their works represent a variety of artistic media, such as painting, sculpture, photography, art using found objects, recycled materials, and more.

This exhibition was organized as part of a Dean’s Seminar course taught by Bibiana Obler, Associate Professor of Art History. Enter: Future was loosely tied to Professor Obler’s current exhibition Fast Fashion / Slow Art, co-curated by Phyllis Rosenzweig, and on view at Brady Gallery through December 15, 2019. Some of the works on display in Enter: Future relate to the concern of global sustainability brought to attention in Fast Fashion / Slow Art, along with the influence fashion practices have on our societies and futures. Our goal is to convey both a realistic and imagined view of what our future might look like, and we hope you enjoy viewing the works on display as much as we enjoyed curating them.

Exhibiting artists include: Rose Anderson, MK Bailey, Diana Charnov, Chris Combs, Tom Greeves, Issac Jonas, Rikasso, James Terrell, Rhe’a Roland and Kevin Kwon.
