Gallery 102 is proud to present Unearthing, a group exhibition featuring works from Corcoran Scholars students studying across disciplines within the studio art department. The works included present varying investigations into identity, place, and reality. This process of exploration through artmaking is a kind of archaeology, a study of humanity by digging deep below the apparent and seeking out what lies beneath. What can be gleaned by studying a colander in paint, by transforming a song into an image, by taking pause to photograph the quotidian on the streets where we make our home? What is unearthed when artists take time to kick away the topsoil of everyday experience and examine what is then laid bare?
This exhibition is organized and curated, as part of the Corcoran Scholars program, by Visiting Assistant Professor of Studio Arts, Katherine Lee. The works represent a variety of artistic media, such as painting, photography, and printmaking.
Exhibiting artists include: Jenna Banks, Reilly Cornwall, Camille Drury, Olivia Henderson, Isabel Humphrey, Nahyun Kim, India Mawn, Amanda Mchardy, Athena Poulos Iliakopoulou, Lindsay Siff, Katharine Sory, Maansi Srivastava, Megan Tomasi.
- Monday through Friday: 9am to 5pm
Gallery 102 is located at 801 22nd St. NW.
