During May, the Arlington Artists Alliance is proud to present Flora, a solo show of works from Brian Jernigan, in their Overlook Gallery. These small still life pieces continue my exploration of the medium of pastel which I have been using for more than 6 years. Created on sanded paper, and matted and framed behind glass, I’ve used both hard and soft pastels to push their boundaries and see how they can communicate, say Jernigan. “I’ve also played with the idea of abstracted realism in these pieces, hoping to land in the sweet spot between my love of non-representation and my exploration of things that are real. At the same time, I would like viewers to see what they know, but appreciate the shapes that co-mingle to make the overall pictures.”

Additionally, their May Member Show in the Main Gallery will exhibit new works by our member artists, including paintings, sculpture, glass, jewelry, ceramics and woodworking.
