The Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) is pleased to present Green is the Secret Color to Make Gold, a solo exhibition exploring themes of daily routine and ritual featuring new work by DC-based artist Caitlin Teal Price, on view September 24–November 24, 2018 at the gallery located at the Reston Town Center. The exhibition is curated by GRACE Executive Director and Curator Lily Siegel.

Known for her photographs of people, the artist’s newest body of work depicts arrangements of objects, primarily those collected by her young son on walks they regularly take together, in consideration of value and systems of classification. The exhibition will also include Price’s first large-scale drawings.

Caitlin Teal Price (b. 1980, Chicago; lives and works in Washington, DC) earned her M.F.A in photography from the Yale School of Art in New Haven, Connecticut. Her work has been exhibited widely on the east coast, locally at the Corcoran Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Katzen Art Center among others, and internationally at Fotografiska in Stockholm and Photography Festival & Australian Center for Photography in Sydney. Her series Stranger Lives was featured in the New York Times article “Vulnerability and Confidence” in 2012 and the subject of her book, Stranger Lives, published by Capricious in 2016. She received the Artist Fellowship Award from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities in 2016 and 2017.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a robust schedule of programing, including a conversation between Price and fellow artist John Pilson at the National Gallery of Art and a talk by Dorothy Moss, curator of painting and sculpture and curator of performance art at the National Portrait Gallery, at GRACE.
