Open Studios: Sunday, May 6 from 12pm to 5pm

The Jackson Art Center welcomes the public Sunday, May 6, from noon to 5 pm for Open Studios.

New this Spring: Shop a collection of original art by a variety of Jackson artists for under $100.

Guests may stroll through the working art studios of local artists who work in oil, watercolor, photography, textile, clay and other media. The event includes live music and refreshments and a children’s printmaking workshop from 3-4 pm on the east playground. All ages are welcome.

Housed in the former DC public Jackson School (1890-1971), at 30th and R Street, NW, in Georgetown, The Jackson Art Center is one of DC’s first art studios. Jackson was started by DC artists in the 1980s, when art studio space in the city was almost unheard of.  Jackson’s Open Studios events have become a popular tradition for art lovers from around the area.

Open Studios and the children’s workshop are free. No reservations required.

Jackson Art Center is located at 3050 R St. NW. For more information, visit www.jacksonartcenter.com.
