Opening Reception: Saturday, January 18 from 5pm to 7pm
Members of the Capitol Hill Art League will be featured at a “12”x12” Small Works” show which opens on Saturday, January 18th, from 5pm to 7pm, at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop located at 545 7th Street, SE. Washington, DC, 20003.
This show will inaugurate a permanent CHAL Wall in the gallery of the Arts Workshop where Art League artists will be featured year-round. The show juror, Ellen Cornett, a teacher and accomplished artist, will discuss the show at 5:30pm. Refreshments will be provided at this free event where all are welcome.
Equal Merit Awards will be presented to three artists in the show:
- Kim Bursic
- Marilyn Christiano
- Kay Fuller
Ms. Cornett studied art at the University of Wisconsin and earned a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Maryland. She teaches life drawing and oil painting at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. Her work has been featured in juried, solo, and group shows for several years; in addition to many awards in juried competitions. Ms. Cornett has twice received the National Museum of Women in the Arts membership award and the Ruth Gerges Best in Show Award at the Alexandria Art League.

As part of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, CHAL promotes the visual arts in the Capitol Hill community and beyond. Membership is open to anyone 18 and over. The membership fee is $50 for one year along with volunteer service at CHAL events. The Art League is affiliated with The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW), a community-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1972.
