John Riley Pottery, a ceramic artisan who specializes in functional pottery and lives and works in Ward 7, is hosting his annual Home Studio Holiday Sale in front of his residence on December 4 from 11am-4pm at 1717 38th Street SE. John has been a potter living and working in Washington DC since first taking classes at Hinckley Pottery back in 2008. He fell in love with wheel thrown pottery and apprenticed with Jill Hinckley, assisting with studio operations and teaching classes. He currently has a studio in his home and fires his work at a wood kiln in Prince Georges County and at District Clay Center in NE DC, where he is a community artist. He will be displaying work for sale from recent firings. Come shop for items for use in the home as well as pieces for serving and enjoying food and drink. Some examples of items for sale are mugs, cups, pitchers, vases and more, all hand made by the artist in his home studio. Most items are one of a kind. Stop by for a some hot apple cider and support a local maker. Guests are asked to kindly wear a face covering when browsing.
