Artist Reception: Saturday, June 2 from 4pm to 6pm
First Friday for all shows: Friday, June 1 from 6pm to 8pm
This new series of paintings were inspired by a photograph taken by the artist in Oregon at the Columbia River Gorge. Goldberg says, “I had made several paintings from these photographs but then found one that impressed me with its rhythms—movement, color, shapes. So I tore it up and pasted pieces on a primed canvas and followed the rhythms with paint. One inspired the next. And so on.”
Camicia’s new exhibition is primarily about the sensuality of paint. Using different types of paint, mainly oil, latex and additives, the artist explores the interactions of different materials.
In these works, Palasik begins to explore some of her earlier forms once again. By examining the existing forms, using them for inspiration, and transforming them in new ways, she encourages us to discover exciting, unknown and more expansive parts of ourselves.
