Liz Lecault is a clay artist with over thirty years of professional experience. Her studio is located in Cheverly, MD where she creates her one of a kind organic vessel forms and biomorphic ceramic sculpture. She also works in the sculpture studio at Prince George’s Community College.
Lescault lived in Botswana and Lesotho where she studied traditional African techniques and in France where she studied watercolor. A selection of her work is part of the permanent collection of the National Museum of Botswana.

Lescault began developing low fire ceramic techniques while residing in Africa. After many years of experimentation using multiple glaze layers and low firing, she has realized a new body of work that evokes sea shells, seed pods and other organic material. While appearing to be bone at first glance, Exo-Skeleton (pictured above), like all of Lescault’s work, is actually ceramic. In this sense Lescault has transcended her chosen medium by creating art objects that could seemingly be found in nature.
Xenophilia runs October 24 through Sat December 24.
