Seventh Annual Artists on the Rise: Juried Teen Exhibition

Montpelier Arts Center strives to foster a positive, creative environment in which young and emerging artists realize their full potential as creative individuals. In honor of National Youth Art Month, Montpelier spotlights the talents of teen visual artists (ages 13-18) from the Washington metropolitan area.

50th Annual Laurel Art Guild Juried Exhibition
Exhibition Dates: March 9-31
Organized by the Laurel Art Guild, this annual exhibit is juried by a regional professional and showcases works by artists ages 18 and older who live in the Washington metropolitan area and surrounding states. The exhibit includes paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, collages, and more. This year will be the 50th anniversary exhibit. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third places and three merit awards. Get involved in your local arts activities and enjoy the support and camaraderie of your fellow artists. About the Juror:
Gavin Glakas grew up in Bethesda, MD and studied at Washington University in St. Louis and the Slade School of Fine Arts in London.

He has won awards from the Portrait Society of America and the Butler Institute of American Art and his paintings have been featured on NBC News and in The Washington Post, American Art Collector, International Artist and numerous other publications.

Glakas’ paintings hang in the permanent collections of the US Senate, the House of Representatives, the Virginia State Capitol, Georgetown & George Washington Universities and The Society of the Four Arts Museum in Palm Beach, FL, as well as numerous other public and private collections.

He is represented by Principle Gallery of Alexandria, VA, and Charleston, SC, and he teaches painting and drawing at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo, MD.
