Artist’s Reception: Saturday, February 29 from 4pm to 6pm
First Friday: Friday, March 6 from 6pm to 8pm
Paint. Color. Texture. Nature.
My new works are scenes from recent travels in Africa and Asia as well as reflections of my interest in Japanese art. I was raised in Appalachia, surrounded by trees, mountains, rivers, lakes. Closeness to nature is essential to my life and work. Japanese art flows from the intertwining of nature in Japanese aesthetics and culture. The affinity I feel to it leads me to experiment with its themes. The painting, “Eight Views,” comes from a Chinese/Japanese theme in painting and poetry of expression of significant scenes within a certain area.
Art & Soul: Annual Fundraiser for Studio Gallery
Proceeds from art sales during our March exhibition, Art & Soul, will go directly to Studio Gallery, and support our mission of fostering a public appreciation for the world of the arts.
The arts are at the heart of our community. Art is the basis of the graceful architecture we walk past each day, the music we dance to, and the paintings, photographs, and visualizations we’re drawn to. Art is at the core of who we are as people. Now, we’re making it easier than ever to support the arts – and specifically, our nonprofit organization, Studio Gallery, one of the longest-running artist cooperatives in the DC area. Featuring exclusively donated artwork, this group show will exhibit a large range of styles and mediums. If you’ve been waiting to acquire an original work of art, there has never been a better time. When you support us, you help keep us here – at the community’s heart and soul.
