McLean Central Park will come to life Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm when MPAartfest returns with an afternoon full of art, music, food and fun. Now in its 13th year, MPAartfest 2019 offers enjoyment for guests of all ages. Selected by Sunshine Artist Magazine as one of the Top 100 Fine Art and Design Shows in the USA, this year’s festival features the work of 40+ selected artists, some of DC’s most talented music performers, wonderful local food vendors, and a variety of arts and STEAM (STEM+Art) activities to engage creative minds and captivate art-lovers of all ages.

A one-day juried fine art show and sale, McLean Central Park is transformed into a lively landscape of mini art galleries showcasing and offering for sale the work of over 40 acclaimed artists from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Last year, this annual celebration of the visual arts attracted approximately 10,000 visitors. For a complete list of this year’s featured artists, visit the MPA website.

“Each fall MPAartfest celebrates our community and the arts in the beautiful setting of McLean Central Park. We are so appreciative of our generous community sponsors who help to make it all possible,” said MPA Executive Director Lori Carbonneau. “We invite all the community to join us for a relaxing and inspiring day of art in the park!”

MPAartfest will again offer a full day of lively and varied musical performances, curated by musical director Ken Avis, radio host of Antidote WERA 96.7 FM and a performing musician with the award-winning band Veronneau. This year’s performers include: Djangolaya (10 am), Jake Blount & Clara Delfina (11 am), Great Guitars (12 pm), Bumper Jackson’s Duo (1 pm), Black Masala (2 pm), Caz Gardiner (3 pm) and Blues Alley Youth Jazz Orchestra (4 pm).

MPA’s STEAM Village will be filled with a variety of STEAM (STEM+Art)-based learning stations dedicated to involving guests in Art+Engineering, Art+Math, Art+Architecture, Art+Nature and Art+Music activities. Other art highlights include the Children’s ArtWalk, an awe-inspiring open-air gallery displaying teacher-selected artwork from local public and private elementary school students. And teens and adults in attendance are invited to sketch live models in MPA’s Open Air Art Studio.

On the food front, MPAartfest 2019 will once again feature the much-loved Café Beret, where guests can enjoy wine and beer provided by The Wine Outlet. The event will also offer food from a variety of eateries, including Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company, Red Hook Lobster Pound, and Zinga Frozen Yogurt.
