Emignas, an installation-piece by Arlington artist and curator J.W. Mahoney, is intended to be a set of mysteries wrapped around secret questions, beginning with the intentional misspelling of its title. Recent and much earlier artworks, along with the artist’s photographs, and various objects, texts, and selected images will comprise Emignas, which hopes to provide as nearly entertaining a set of curiosities as those available in our current socio-political arenas.

Curator/artist J.W. Mahoney is also a published art critic and an affiliate professor of visual arts at the University of Maryland, in Baltimore, He has served as Washington’s corresponding editor for Art in America, and as a contributing editor for The Washington Review and the New Art Examiner. He notably curated Outliers: Works by Kurt Godwin and Betsy Packard at the Katzen Center at American University, in 2015.

Barbara Januszkiewicz is the founder and outreach curator at Metro Micro Gallery, as part of the outreach of her studio practice that includes mentorships within the creative community.
