Reception: Saturday, July 16, from 6pm to 8pm
Please join miXt Food Hall for an Artist Reception on Saturday, July 16, from 6-8 PM. They have two beautiful painting exhibitions, Dwayne Martin in the Corner Space and Paula Cleggett in the Loft Gallery.
Dwayne Martin
Martin is a DC native whose art focuses on the connection between feeling and color, highlighting the emotions they invoke. He works with paint, oil, enamel, spray paint, and acrylics to tell stories on canvas. He often switches traditional brushes out for knives, playing cards, and hair brushes to further express the utility of perseverance. His work is a vivid interpretation of his journey – bold lines and bright colors aiding him in his execution.
Paula Cleggett
Now retired from a rewarding government career, Paula uses her art to shine a light on warm, familiar themes – family, friends, food, and frivolity – with new perspectives. With light playing a leading role, my paintings feature morning light gracing cattle and cowhand, midday sun embracing church picnic patrons, and evening shade serenading a retiring couple. Filtered light falls on a family around the table as well as a duo tackling a cookbook recipe. Smoky spotlights bounce off dancers, singers, and music-makers.’
Light refreshments will be served in the Loft Gallery and drink specials at the bar.
